Coaching business owners for the last 10 years has led me to believe that a key ingredient in the success of any business is linked back to the reasons that the business owner has for being there in the first place. i.e. what is their 'Why'.
A question that I ask to each and every business owners is:
'If you had unlimited time and money, what would you do'. Very few are able to answer this because they are so caught up in their daily lives, fire fighting and dealing with the daily challenges that life presents to them. Failing to give this daily struggle meaning leads to burnout.
If you are operating a business and are looking for small business marketing strategies that work, take a breather for 5 and start to prepare your own life strategy. Why are you doing what you are doing? What will it be like when you are finished? What will you do then? What will life look like for you then? What will that enable you to do then? How will you feel about that? What will happen if you do not achieve?
The last question will usually be met with indignation if the 'Why' is strong enough.
To be successful in business, you must work every day on your 'why'. Your 'Why' will enable you to clarify your vision for your business. By sharing this vision with your team, you will motivate and inspire them to work harder for themselves and for you.
Supporting the vision for the business will be your mission, also underpinned by your bigger 'why'.
By having a clear 'Why' in your business and in your life will also have a profound impact on your ability to market yourself.
